The Frick Collection offers pay-what-you-wish admission on Wednesday 1:30pm–5:30pm. Pay-what-you-wish Wednesdays 1:30-5:30pm. Free admission for ages 10-18; children under 10 are not admitted. First Fridays are a separate monthly program, not weekly admission.

Make a visit of it

The indoor courtyard with the fountain is one of the most peaceful rooms in NYC. Vermeer's Officer and Laughing Girl is here -- three Vermeers total, in a mansion, not a warehouse. The intimacy is the point.

After: Via Quadronno (Italian cafe, $10-18). 73rd and Madison. Milanese panini and espresso. Feels like a European intermission.
