Make a visit of it
Sit on the waterfront facing Manhattan at sunset -- it's one of the best skyline views in the city and nobody thinks to come here. Summer weekends have free yoga, movie screenings, and workshops. The installations change seasonally.
After: Astoria Bier & Cheese (beer/cheese bar, $8-16). Broadway in Astoria, 10 min walk. Craft beers and grilled cheese flights. Weird in the best way.
