Make a visit of it
28 acres of gardens overlooking the Hudson River and Palisades. The view from the Pergola is one of the best-kept secrets in the city. The greenhouses are wonderful in winter. Mark Twain and Teddy Roosevelt both lived here.
After: S&S Cheesecake (bakery, $6-10). 228th St in the Bronx. Old-school NY cheesecake, dense and creamy. Grab a slice to go and eat it in the garden.
