Make a visit of it
Book the moment tickets drop Monday at 5pm; they go fast. The free Limited ticket covers the full 265 acres of grounds, most animal exhibits, and the Congo Gorilla Forest exterior. Skip the paid Star Attractions and just walk the grounds. The Wild Asia Monorail area is beautiful even without the ride.
After: Mike's Deli (Italian deli, $12-18). Arthur Ave Market, 2344 Arthur Ave. Massive sandwiches inside the indoor market. Get the combo hero. 15 min walk from the zoo's Asia Gate.
