Make a visit of it
Louis Kahn's final design -- a granite triangle pointing at the UN across the East River. The minimalism is powerful. Take the Roosevelt Island Tramway ($2.90, use MetroCard) for aerial views on the way there. One of the most dramatic spaces in NYC.
After: Bread and Butter (cafe, $6-12). Main St on Roosevelt Island. Simple sandwiches and coffee. The island itself is a quiet escape from Manhattan.
