Make a visit of it
The gallery is small but the shows are exquisite -- they bring things from Japan you won't see anywhere else in the US. The bamboo garden in the lobby is a moment of calm on a hectic Midtown block. Check for film screenings.
After: Sakagura (Japanese izakaya, $14-28). Hidden in an office building basement on 43rd St. 200+ sakes and serious izakaya food. The kind of place only locals know.
