The permanent exhibit on NYC's history from Lenape land to present is dense and fascinating. The top-floor terrace has a quiet Central Park view. Combine with El Museo del Barrio next door -- same-day ticket gets you in free.
After: Earl's Beer and Cheese (bar, $$). park ave at 97th, 6 blocks south. craft beer and grilled cheese with pork belly in a narrow neighborhood spot. the beer-cheese spread is addictive.
