Make a visit of it
NYC's oldest surviving house (1748), set inside Van Cortlandt Park. George Washington really did sleep here. The free Wednesday visit pairs perfectly with a walk through the park's gorgeous trails, including the Old Croton Aqueduct path. Far fewer crowds than downtown historic sites.
